On the west coast of the Peloponnese, 5 kilometers north of Kyparissia, there is the village called Kalo Nero (= beautiful water) with an immense and large sandy beach on the
South and the North. From about 2 km on the North of the last houses the beach is nearly deserted for distance of more than 5 km. Even on Sundays in August there were not more than 20 persons on this immense beach, that is ideal for swimming and walking. No sun loungers, parasols,
taverns with Greek ''meze''or anything like that. You can feel
absolutely alone to enjoy it a lot and will come back!
How to get Here
From April to October there are charter flights to Kalamata Airport and Araxos Airport (Patras), from various European cities. Also, there are daily scheduled flights from most European countries to Athens International Airport. The distance Athens -Tripoli - Kyparissia is 260 Km long and can be covered by car in approximately 3 hours. The road takes you through the vineyards of Korinthia and the mountainous masses of
Arcadia before you reach the fertile Messinian valley. If required we can make arrangements for a transfer by taxi or a rental car.
If you are planning a trip with your own car, there are daily ferryboat services from Italy (Venice, Ancona, Bari, Brindisi) to Patra. The distance Patra - Kalo Nero is about 150 km (2 hours drive).
Kyparissia is also connected to Athens by bus. The bus can by taken at the Bus Terminal of Kifissos in Athens and covers the distance in about 4 hours. There are several bus services throughout the day.
The area is one of the most beautiful in Greece, rich in plantation, with untouchable endless beaches, where even today, those giant sea turtles "Caretta-Caretta", choose to build their nests, a few minutes outside the village of Kalo Nero. All the attractions are in a short walking distance. The area is shelter to the Mediterranean Sea-turtle "Caretta-Caretta" which is reproduced there.
